DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) operates on the principle of transferring floc to the surface of water through the attachment of micro air bubbles. The accumulated "float" on the surface is skimmed off as sludge, while clarified water is removed from the bottom.
This process is particularly suited for treating eutrophic, algae-laden waters and soft, low-alkalinity colored waters. Performance depends on effective coagulation and flocculation, often supported by polyelectrolyte dosing to maintain efficiency in low temperatures or with fragile floc.
