💡 TIPS & TECHNIQUES

Epoxy and Acrylic castable mounting systems are recommended for specimens sensitive to high pressures and temperatures. Epoxy systems provide good physical adherence, low shrinkage, and excellent infiltration into pores and cracks. Acrylic systems are selected for short cure times.

● Use a vacuum system to evacuate air trapped in epoxy systems to eliminate gaps at the sample interface.
● To improve edge retention for acrylic systems, coat the sample in liquid hardener before pouring the mixed compound.
